Adoptions January 1, 2001 to June 30, 2001

Mocha has been adopted by Jan and her Golden Bond dog, Sophie. Now you must realize that Sophie is a very particular Golden and when Mocha was introduced to her she had to admit that this was a very exceptional Golden. So Mocha is one happy dog to be accepted into this very loving home.

Magic has found his forever home with Debbie and her daughter Courtney. Stacie, who lives in Seattle and is Debbie's older daughter, is coming home this week-end just to meet this new boy who has brought so much joy to this household. Debbie is a nurse in a care facility and Magic is already going to work with Debbie and bringing much happiness into the lives of those living there. Magic also enjoys his walks to Laurelhurst park and is especially pleased when swimming is allowed before the walk home. This has been a wonderful match for all concerned. There was "magic" the instant they met.
Toby has been adopted by Doug and Renee along with fellow GB alumni, Maggie. They lost Baron to cancer this spring and Maggie really missed her buddy. The humans felt the house was too quiet with just one Golden . We thank Doug and Renee for opening thier home and hearts to another rescue dog. Toby and Maggie are getting along famously and keeping each other entertained.
Bo: Bo has found his perfect forever home. He will be living very happily with Clifford and Donna who work out of their home. Anna is their daughter who attends PSU so he will have lots of at home people company, which is what he craves most. He will have the company of a 16 year old cat in a home with a half-acre of fenced property. In the summer months he will spend his time in the Idaho mountains swimming and hiking, a paradise for all dogs!Good luck to this sweet dog and family.
Chuck: Chuck has found a wonderful home with Josey, her sister Many Ann and their two Goldens, Jessie who is 4 and Boo, age 8. Chuck has some health issues and Josey, who is extremely knowledgeable, is a true savior for him. He has already been on walks around the neighborhood and all who see that sweet face, fall instantly in love with him. Chuck, who is quite blind, has already found his way around Josey and Mary Ann's home and is a real trooper. He will also have a wonderful yard and garden in which to "sniff" all the wonderful sights and sounds.
Lucky: Lucky has been adopted into a wonderful family of Allan and Ann and their 4 children ages 15, 11, 9 and 7. No one could be luckier than this guy Out of the Salem Humane Society, into a wonderful foster home and then an even great forever home! He certainly was well named. He will also have the be among the company of a 12 year old cat and 2 rabbits. Sounds like he will also be lucky enough to go on lots of car rides, many of them to the beach.
Cassey has been adopted by Judy, Virgil and their resident Golden Girl, Rosey. Cassey and Rosey are both senior Goldens and according to Judy are like "peas in a pod", as comfortable with one another as if they had been sisters all their lives.

Jake has been adopted by Randy, Claire and their resident Golden Boy, Charlie. What a wonderful ending for Jake who came into rescue a pitifully thin stray. Randy, Claire and Charlie are all retired so Jake has full time company, his own couch and he and Charlie get to go to the "swimming hole" every day for fun and games.
Amber and Bradley - the Bobsey Twins have been adopted by Judith and her Golden Girl, Abby. Amber and Bradley are the second pair of siblings Judith has adopted from Golden Bond. Two years ago she adopted Abby and Zoe, two really lovely seniors abandoned in a rest area in southern Oregon. Zoe just passed away from old age so Judith and Abbey decided to open their home to two more Goldens with a special need to stay together.

Angus: Angus has been adopted by Patricia, a retired secretary, who lost her Border Collie to old age two months ago and needed the companionship of another dog in her home. In his new home, Angus will be the only dog, the center of attention with full time house privileges and "reserved parking" on the couch -- a dream come true for Angus!
Copper: Adopted by Celine and David and their eight cats! Celine is a retired vet assistant and is at home full time. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about adopting a special needs dog, David and Celine plan lots of fun activities for Copper such as hiking, cross country skiing and boating under their watchful eye. On quieter days, Copper will assist Celine in her office at home and help count the cats!
Joy: Adopted by Diane and Truett, both retired and able to devote their full attention to taking Joy hiking in the woods, camping and fishing and on exciting trips in their RV to fun places like Alaska!
Shelby: Adopted by Don and Katherine, very special people who have adopted four senior or special needs dogs from Golden Bond over the last eight years.. Shelby is their fifth rescue from us. She joins resident dogs, Brit and Keeper and four rescue cats in her new home. Golden Bond is very grateful to Don and Katherine for all the love and tenderness they have showered on our special boys and girls over the years!
Belvedere: Adopted by Patti and her daughter Kelsey. He now is big brother to their young female Golden Retriever and their four cats ( 2 Main Coon and 2 domestic).
Molly: Adopted by Susan an Stu, Molly is their fourth rescue dog and joins them on their five acre mini farm in Southern Oregon. Susan and Stu are retired and home full time so Molly, who has separation anxiety has found the perfect home. Golden Bond thanks Stu and Susan for making room for "just one more" very deserving rescue dog.
Duncan: Adopted by Jan and Roger and their Newfie mix, Frank. Jan is retired and home pretty much of the time. Roger's office is close to home and he occasionally takes the boys to work to be official "meeters and greeters". Our charming Duncan may have found his niche!
Tyer has gone home with Steve and Mai . Tyler is keeper of their home and protector of their old cat. After living on the farm for many years as an outside dog he is now a full time inside dog and loving every minute of it. Thank you Steve and Mai for seeing past some rough edges and giving Tyler a much deserved second chance.
Murray (right with Ed) our heartworm survivor has been adopted by Ed, Beckie and Scruffy, their five year old mix breed. Ed and Beckie specialize in "second hand" dogs...one of their adoptees was a Golden they took in at 11 years of age and he lived to the ripe old age of 14! Ed has started a new landscaping business and was looking for a co-pilot to accompany him occasionally on the job. When he is not rolling around the yard with Scruffy, Murray is definitely up to the task!More pictures of Murray.

Mishi (left) has been adopted by Bev and John. Bev works at home so Mishi has lots of company and will soon have more even because the plan is to adopt another rescue Golden as soon as Mishi has a chance to settle in! She is a lucky girl, our Mishi, because obviously Bev and John have big hearts and lots of love to go around.

Crystal (left) our little bundle of energy, went home with Judy, Glenn and their resident Golden who will be Crystal's big sister and show her the ropes. Crystal is a young dog that spent most of her formative months chained to a dog house. She wanted a home where her new people would be patient, understanding and be able to teach her some manners. Jean works at home and is an experienced dog trainer so Crystal will have the benefit of a "higher education" - all promising young Goldens should be so lucky.

Buddy 3 (right) has been adopted by Robin, Ken and their three resident Goldens. Robin is a stay at home mom so this young pup will get plenty of time, attention and gentle instruction on the finer points of being a well behaved Golden. He will be living on three fenced acres and have lots of opportunity to wear out the older dogs one by one before resting his weary puppy head each evening!

Sabrina has been adopted by Lynne and Steve. Sabrina will share her home with Lynne, Steve and their 4 yr. old Golden, Coey. This is happy ending for Sabrina who started her life indentured to a backyard breeder. She came into rescue suffering from severe health problems because she was bred too young. Thank you, Lynne for taking such good care of Sabrina - you have been especially patient in light of "complications" which continued to develop after taking Sabrina home

Barkley, (right) age1 to 2 has a new family! Found as a stray, he was released to Golden Bond by a shelter after he had been hit by a car and fractured his pelvis. The shelter felt they could not give him the care that he needed and were considering putting him down. He was fostered by Marsha, David and China, a 13 year old Westie. After just a few days they fell in love with him and could not let him fo, so he has found his forever home with them.

Rocky(left) a sweetheart at age 13, is in permanent foster care with Golden Bond. An owner release when life's circumstances changed, she'll be staying with Marise and her three goldens enjoying her Golden
Years. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Marise and her brood for letting Rocky become a member of the family!

Drew(right): Has been adopted by Roxanna and Jim Crumley. The Crumley's like to hike and camp - Roxanne walks six miles three times a week and plans to enroll in obedience classes with Drew and later hopes train Drew as a volunteer therapy dog! He'll be great!!

Rocket(left) Has been adopted by Nancy, Jeff, Jeremy, Jacob and Bongo. He is already Jeremy's special buddy and companion in adventures. Bongo (- also a rescue) is playing canine big brother and showing Rocket the ropes.

Rufus: Has found the perfect forever home with Christy, John, Mallory and Ariana. He is already enrolled in obedience class where we expect he will be a star! In the meantime, to work off some of that puppyish energy he is taking daily 3.5 miles walks around the neighborhood with Christy and John - perfect for a young exuberant guy like Rufus.

Lucky Sunny went home with Lori, Stephen, Allison, Hillary and new canine brother Sam. The family is involved in 4-H so there are lots of other "interesting" animals to meet, weekend trips and lots of other fun stuff. Sunny F 15 months is a lively youngster. She &her foster brother Jake play continually in the backyard and even though she is half his size, she can hold her own. (It was hysterical one day watching her try to drag him around the backyard by his tail. Where's the camera when you need it!!??) She ha some puppy beahviors but is learning "no". She is very good in the house. She likes to cuddle right up against Jake or to try to be a lap dog. She loves to be petted and hugged. She is learning basic commands, but does not like to be on a leash and acts like she never has been on one before. She'd be a good candidate for one of those Halti collars I think. Too rowdy for anyone with small children, unsure about cats. This girl will make a nice companion for someone willing to help her learn the rules and be patient with her as she learns. More pictures of Sunny.

Hester:Due to her age and some health problems, Hester is in permanent foster care. We thank Carla and Dillon for opening their home and hearts to this gentle sweet gal for the remaining years of her life. Hester F Age 12 . This sweet senior was found in pretty rough shape as a stray. She is a wonderful well mannered dog who still has love to give a family that is willing to overlook her aarp membership.

Chance has been adopted by Lisa and Doug. They are an active family-he joins a household with another dog for company, along with two cats. They will be able to keep up with his energy level and understand his "puppy" needs. Lisa says she looks forward to obedience classes with Chance as he appears to be quite intelligent and willing to please. Best of all Chance may get to go to work with his new Dad and Dixie on occasion - that will be a new experience for a boy who was released because no one had the time for him and just left him in the backyard all day by himself. While the humans are wooing him, he's wooing the cats! We look forward to hearing about all of the adventures to come for Chance and his new family! Chance, M is about a year old. He is sweet and eager to please but needs lots of training and patience.Update on Chance 2-1-2001

Daisy 2 has been adopted by Jean and Albert . They came to get Daisy bringing their love and a bag of dog goodies - new bright blue leash and matching collar, soft toy, chew toy, ball, rawhide bone. Even before they came, Jean was talking about "driving Miss Daisy" and Albert was looking forward to "Daisy-Dog." Daisy took to her new parents immediately. What a great match for Daisy!

Cutter (right)has been adopted by his foster family. He joins another Golden Bond dog and lives out in the country where there are lots of interesting smells and places to explore!

Annie was adopted by Cathryn and her family. She is a shy dog who is really coming into her own with the love and patience she has gotten from her new people.

Daisy is a very luck girl! She has been adopted by Yayoi, PJ and Hobbes. Hobbes is their first rescue dog - still quite young and playful. Yayoi dreamed for years of having a Golden Retriever and decided the only way to go was to "rescue". She was looking for a special "girl friend" type Golden personality and Daisy really fits the bill. We are so happy for Daisy that they wanted to share their home with yet another rescue dog and opened their hearts to her. Update on Daisy March 2001

Boomer has been adopted by Bruce and Sharon . What a great home for our boy - Bruce works at home and needed an administrative assistant so Boomer has a cushy job! After being an outside dog all his life he is now strictly an inside dog and loving it - he's even allowed on the furniture. Boomer was severely abused but never lost his loving, Golden temperament - if ever a dog earned a warm spot in the house it's Boomer. Golden Bond is grateful to the Bruce and Sharon for loving Boomer even before meeting him and for giving him safe, comfortable retirement years. 3-17-01 Update on Boomer in his new home!Boomer a beautiful red boy who lived a life of neglect and abuse prior to being released to Golden Bond.Saved by a neighbor who thought Boomer deserved a new home, this eight year old male is sweet and lovable despite his early years.Needs to go to an adult only home as he was treated less than kindly by children. He's in the process of learning that humans are kind so is looking for love, patience and time to adjust from his new family. He is very overweight but should slim down with attention to his diet and some regular activity. This guy is looking for a second chance at love and life! He has a true Golden personality that we expect to blossom in his new home.

Rosie has a new family!
Rosie has been adopted by Challen, Steve, Donelle and "Bubba" . They recently lost their Golden girl to cancer at the age of 13 - they have missed her and really needed a ray of sunshine to brighten up their lives. Challen says Rosie is "a love" - gentle with baby Donelle, playful with Bubba and good company for her and Steve.ROSIE (left) is a 4 year old female who was released by her owners after they tired of breeding her. She's now spayed and has done very well in her foster home.SHe's got a great temperment and willingness to learn. She adores swimming and loves her toys. She's an affectionate girl who travels well and is just looking for a special family to be part of.

Smokey and Sparkey, have gone home with Bob and Marylynne. We were so fortunate that they felt it important to have TWO Goldens at home for company. This is the second time they have rescued in pairs - about five years ago they rescued two Goldens that were nine and ten years of age at the time. Bob and Marylynne obviously have big hearts with lots of love to share and we thank them for keeping these two Golden brothers together.

Newman (left.Used to be "Prancer") has found a new home with Michelle and Michael. After losing their beloved golden companion Jackson, they couldn't live long without another Golden in the house. After life on the streets Newman is a lucky dog to have found such a wonderful home! He has several Golden Bond pals in the neighborhood so he'll have lots of good golden tumbling to help him burn off some of the puppy energy he has in abundance at the moment! More Newman Info here.

Peanut has been adopted by Laura . What a lucky guy. He will be an only dog, keeper of the house while Laura is at work and, best of all he won't have to share the furniture with anyone but Laura when she gets home!Peanut is an 8 year old male who has had several homes in the last few years. He's looking for a stable forever family. Great with other dogs and cats. He's a couch potato inside and moderately active outside. This well mannered and affectionate dog is outgoing and anxious to please. Knows baisc commands. This guy is a real sweetheart. Needs an adult only home as he has a history of being treated less than kindly by children.

Our Bailey girl has been adopted by Angie and Jeff and their Golden boy, Dusty. They have had Dusty (or is it the other way around?) since he was 7 weeks old. He is now 12 years old and they wanted him to have the companionship of a sweet, dignified, well behaved lady Golden. That's our Bailey. They will be strictly "inside" kids, Golden Recliners extraordinaire and teachers wisdom concerning the spoiling of Golden Retrievers. We are so happy for our girl!
Thank you Jeff and Angie... Bailey - a 6 year old female owner release due to life circumstances. She's had several homes in her life so is really looking forward to finding a new loving family where she can stay forever. She is very gentle and loving of attention being petted is one of her favorite activities. She's a real "golden recliner". She can be wary of new dogs but given time and patience does adjust to them. She is a great family dog. She's probably not energetic enough for a very active outdoors family, but more for the sitting by the hearth and reading type. She loves kids, and would be fine with another dog after the initial settling in stage. She seems to get along better with male dogs than with female dogs. Cat history is unknown. Her only flaw is is her penchant for escape. Whoever adopts her will need to be watchful of her when unsupervised in the yard. She's also overweight and needs someone who will help her uncover her svelt self. If you are looking for a loving companion and can give this girl a secure home, contact us!

Kate and Abby- a sweet pair of Goldens were released when their owners found they didn't have the time for them. These girls have gone home with Tom and Terry. Things have been kind of quiet at Tom & Terry's since they lost their longtime Golden Companion, Leesha last year. We KNOW that Abby & Kate will keep them entertained and busy! There is nothing like the patter of eight little feet to lighten your life! We look forward to hearing of the adventures that they have together.
Update from Tom and Terry January 25,2001-Abby and Kate are loves. We are having fun getting to know one another. Abby does love attention but Kate is never far behind. Kate is having fun bounding around the back yard, rolling and jumping in the snow. I think Abby finds snow a bother, but she loves the heat of the wood stove! They are great in the house when we have to go to work and got a clean bill of health from our vet (except that we all need to lose a little weight!). I sent a note off to Patsy and Linda earlier in the week. Golden Bond is a wonderful group of people and both Tom and I are happy to finally be able to put some names and faces together. I will keep in touch. Terry, Abby, and Kate
Chelsea- has found her new home at last! It was a long wait, but we are delighted to report that she has gone to live with Mary. Mary lost her Golden boy just before Christmas last year and there has been a huge void in her life which Chelsea hopes to fill. Mary is at home full time so constant companionship is in the picture for Chelsea along with daily walks along the water and every weekend trips to the farm for a romp in the country.

Wishbone: Wishbone spent most of his young life in a small, portable kennel that had never been cleaned out. When he arrived at his foster home we thought he was a dark colored Golden. You can imagine his foster mom's surprise when he came out of the bath a light, fluffy Gold!! This sweet, beautiful boy thrived in his foster home, learning how to play with toys and interact with other dogs. Enter Jim and Baron. Jim adopted Baron from Golden Bond almost seven years ago and they figured it was time to share the good life with another rescued Golden. Everyone hit it off famously when they met so Baron invited Wishbone to come home with him. Jim works at home so the boys have human companionship all day and the opportunity to go for long walks whenever the mood strikes them. We are very grateful to Jim for giving another Golden Bond rescue a second chance at life. 2-2-01 Photos of Baron and Wishbone-two very happy guys!

Brandy: Brandy, our sweet seven year old girl, has gone home with Nancy and Don and their Golden girl Callie. Brandy's foster Dad determined she was a special girl, possessing qualities of extreme patience and sensitivity. He felt that after a lifetime of service and waiting patiently for "her turn" she deserved the best. Nancy & Don agreed, now Brandy lives in a home where she will be "queen for a day" every day. We thank Nancy, Don and Callie for seeing how special our girl is!

Penny (right) with her new pal Chai (left)
Jenny (Formerly Penny): Penny has been adopted by Susan and Richard and their rescue girl Chai. She is now living in a very loving home where everyone sleeps on the bed and the girls take regular trips to Petsmart to pick out their own toys!! We couldn't be more pleased for Penny and her new family!

Dozer: Our boy Dozer, who spent most of his young life chained up in the backyard has gone home with Steve, Susan and Haley. Dozer is the perfect Golden. Though left to languish in isolation he never lost his sweet personality, eagerness to please or trust in humans. He spent a few weeks with Dan who proclaimed him a "real gem" - a dog who could do it all with just a little encouragement. Although Steve was looking primarily for a pet and companion, we think there might be more in the future for the two of them -- a little upland bird hunting perhaps? We wish them lots of good times and success in whatever adventures they seek.

Mandy: an eight year old female Golden was abandoned in Wasco county when she was pushed out of a car. A kind hearted soul met her at the pound and completely fell in love with her and called Golden Bond for assistance. She was adopted by Ruth, a retired teacher who was looking for a second loving canine companion. Mandy fits right into her active life and has a sheltie pal named Ivy. We are thrilled that Mandy has been adopted into this great home.

Read an update on Mandy.
