Wishbone
June 2002

Diane.....

I just want to tell you how much I enjoy my Wishbone (about 5 months after I got him, I renamed him Bo).

If he is sitting across the room, and our eyes happen to meet, his tail starts wagging.
I have never had a dog that maintains eye contact like him. Our faces can be four inches apart, and we will be looking into each other's eyes until I decide to stop.

If I am in my chair at my computer, he loves to come up and put his front paws around my sides, (giving me what I call a Bo hug) and lick my face and neck until I beg him to stop.

Of course, I have to plan my entry into bed. He is always ready to leap up and join me, with his head on the pillow beside me, and many times with a paw around my side. Because of his quickness, I have to quickly get under the covers before he jumps up on the bed.

I am surprised at how well he has adjusted, given his conditions in his first year of life.
The only possible carry forwards I have seen is that, if I happen to have a shovel, broom, or any stick type object in my hands, he cowers and moves away.

He and Baron are great buddies. They love our trips in the car, our walks (off leash runs on weekdays) on the greenway.

If you ever would like to see him again, let me know.
I can run him by your place, or, if you prefer, you can stop by here and see him in his element.

It is YOU as a foster parent, who made it possible for Wishbone to have found me, and me him.
And I thank you, and the Golden Bond organization.

The boys are doing GREAT!

With each passing day, Wishbone is getting calmer, and more assured. It took him four days to do a number 1 on our walks on the greenway, and after seven days we reached another milestone and he did a no. 2. After about 10 days I let him off leash a little on the greenway, and he loved the freedom to run. He always comes to me when I call him, and never gets very far away from Baron.

He and Baron play well together, although he wants to play all the time and Baron just some of the time. They sleep on my bed. He is always hungry, am giving him 2 cups kibble in the morning and 2 in the evening, with a cooked chicken thigh mixed in and some goodies for desert.

When I'm watching TV he likes to sit in my lap and put his head under my chin and just let me hold him. No matter what part of the house I'm in, he is always at my feet.

While riding in the car he has had a few people point to him and give me a "thumbs up".

He's very happy. So are Baron & I. Am enclosing a few pics.

Jim, Baron & Wishbone

July 2001
Hi!
My name is Baron. I'm 9 years old. I live with my human friend, Jim.
and my crazy little brother Wishbone in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, USA. I was lost and wandering the streets when Golden Bond Rescue found me. Then Jim adopted me, so I now call him DAD.
We have a pretty good time together. Jim takes the Bone and me for long walks
at the park every day and takes us for rides in the car too. I think it's my job to keep things safe,so I bark as loud as I can when anyone comes to the door.

That's me on the right (I'm the smart one)

Dad built me a new deck last summer. Now we're waiting for the wisteria to grow over the top of the pergola. Dad went to school for a long time, almost seven years, to get his degree. Most humans get their degree in four years, but Dad was a slow learner and so it took longer.

I have a little loony brother, Wishbone. Some nights Dad makes us POPCORN which we really like!

And then Dad tucks us into bed and we smile as we go to sleep .
