Levi #987
Crossed the Rainbow Bridge August 26, 2005
I'm sad to say that our Sweet Levi (#987) crossed the Rainbow Bridge on August 26, 2005. He seemed his normal loving self although his appetite was off somewhat. We had just returned from a 10 day camping trip with extended family, and he was a sensitive dog so it wasn't too out of the ordinary. He woke up normally, rolled in the grass that morning after doing his "business" and then began vomiting about 90 minutes later. It turns out he had found an old dried up chew toy somewhere (probably while camping) and had swallowed two large pieces and needed surgery. Through the day, his breathing became more labored and they identified an underlying heart condition. The distress from his belly and the subsequent surgery triggered congestive heart failure, and they did not give him much of a chance at recovery. It was suspected he had a tumor in his heart to cause such a fast downhill slide.
Regretfully, we asked the vet to euthanize him, as his prognosis was poor and he was clearly suffering. It was a heartbreaking decision. I clipped some of his pretty wispy feathers and the clinic took a paw print for us. He was a wonderful dog, a wonderful family member and companion that is greatly missed. Thank you Golden Bond for providing us the opportunity to embrace his loving spirit for the brief time we were able. See you on the other side, you sweet love sponge!!!

People are like stained-glass windows.
They sparkle and shine when the sun is out,
but when the darkness sets in,
their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.

Levi's Adoption Story
Levi (#987): My name is now Mr. Levi Bean and I have a family of fellow Beans. There is little Ava my human sister, my new mom Amy, my dad Glen, the cat Pal, the guinea pig Pedro and a couple of nameless fish. Talk about a ready-made family. We are all having a ball just enjoying all the love.
Dad takes me for walks in the morning, Mom and Ava take me on errands during the day and Dad walks me again at night. But you still haven't heard the coolest part. We have an airplane and get to go camping in it this summer. Can you imagine how cool that will be? Levi, The Red Baron, Bean! Guess I should start shopping for goggles and a scarf.
The only sad part to this is that I had to leave the bestest foster family a Golden could ever have. My dad says that they made me into the wonderful dog I am and I know that's true. I will always love them in that special place in my heart.
Be seeing you from a bird's eye view.
