Bailey #415
Crossed the Rainbow Bridge April 1, 2009
Bailey (#415), came to join our family in December 2003 shortly after our Golden Maggie crossed the Rainbow Bridge . She started her life out kind of rough. She was a special circumstance in that she had to have surgery on both hips and one of her shoulders. Her eye sight was not good and was kind of blurry. All a result of a bad breeder, but Golden Bond took her in, at the tender age of 5 months and gave her a second chance and my family and I had the honor of becoming her humans.
She was only with us 5-1/2 years, not long enough as far as I am concerned but I would do it all again in a heart beat if I could have her back.
Our sweet Bailey was diagnosed with cancer just about 1 month ago. Today 4/1/2009 she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Even as I write those words I just can't believe that she is gone. She was such a fighter and so tough. But yet she was just as sweet. The other night as I sat up with her I started to cry and she was across the room from me and it was so hard for her to get up, but she did and she came over to me and put her head on my lap as she often did and looked up at me as if to say "It's okay Mom. I am here to take care of you." She was always taking care of some thing whether it be one of us or her stuffed toys she packed around in her mouth. Also, Kobe, our Lab. She would at least once a day give Kobe a bath to clean his ears and face. It was so cute. I always called her my Golden Child, because she was just so special. To know her was to love her.
A friend told me today that, dogs never leave us they just run ahead and wait for us in a better place. I know my Baby Girl is waiting for me and Jeff and the kids, along with Maggie for us to come home.
Someone sent me these poems and I would like to share them with you. Thank you Golden Bond for giving Bailey a second chance and letting us have the honor of being her humans.
Treasured Friend
I lost a treasured friend today
The little dog who used to lay
Her gentle head upon my knee
And shared her silent thoughts with me.
She'll come no longer to my call
Retrieve no more her favorite ball
A voice far greater than my own
Has called her to his golden throne.
Although my eyes are filled with tears
I thank him for the happy years
He let her spend down here with me
And for her love and loyalty.
When it is time for me to go
And join her there, this much I know
I shall not fear the transient dark
For she will greet me with a bark.

Goodbye
With heavy hearts; and a tear in our eyes
after all these years; we must say goodbye
Please understand; we've done all we could
if there was anything we could do; you know we would
I'm sitting right here; gently rub your ears
while I talk to you softly; trying to hold back the tears
The memories you gave us; we'll never forget
especially the ones; of the day we all met
One last hug; and one last kiss
you have no idea; how much you'll be missed
To look into your eyes; this one last time
you tell me it's ok; you know it's your time
Close your eyes now; and go to sleep
we'll pray to the Lord; your soul he'll keep
Go in peace now; our good friend
we'll stay right here with you; until the end
Dream of that special day and time
when we'll meet at the Bridge; and all will be fine
We'll run and play; side by side
with a soft warm feeling; deep down inside
Your memory will live on; in each one of us
you'll always be number 1; to all of us
Have a safe journey; through the night
I promise when you awake; you'll be in God's light
So with heavy hearts; and tears in our eyes
just for now my friend; we say goodbye.

Update May 4, 2005

Bailey (#415) here. I wanted to write and send you some pictures of my first trip to the beach with my family. We had a great time playing and running, and swimming. My kids are in the back ground of one of these pictures and I took time out to pose for a picture. My Mom is always snapping photos of me.
I went to the Vet just the other day for my yearly check up. Dr. Milner says I am doing great and my eyes are doing good along with my hips. But Mom and Dr. Milner found out about this arrangement I had with Alyssa, my little human.
Bailey
She was giving extra snacks and I wasn't suppose to have them and so I gained a few extra pounds. We were busted and so I had to go on a diet and Mom keeps a extra eye on Alyssa so she can't sneak me food.
But my Mom said it is for the best that I try to cut back on the snacks. I am a good girl so I am trying very hard but you know us Goldens we do like our food. Well I must go for now.
Love, Bailey
Update September 2004
This is Bailey (#415). My Mom just told me that you were asking how I was doing and I wanted to let everyone know how happy I am. I have kids and a Mom and Dad and I let them share the big bed with me, and Kobe is my Lab brother. He is so funny... he didn't know yet that the women are always in charge and so I had to set him straight a few times but we have that worked out and now we are the best of buddies. Mom takes us to the dog park to play and I get to see my foster Mom Erin, Foster Dad Ross, and Dealer and Molly and Gulliver.
Mom took me to this place and she said I had to be a good girl cause I was going to get a shot and they put this thing in me that has all of there information in it just in case I get lost. I think they called it a micro chip or something like that. I was a very good girl when they put it in cause I never want to get lost from my family. I love them so much. Mom always tells me that it was fate that we were to be together. Personally I knew what I was doing that first day that I climbed into her lap and nibble on her ear and gave her that wet wily I knew I was in after that.
Sorry I haven't written sooner, but we have been busy going camping, walking, playing with the kids and then Kobe always needs to be told what to do. So take care and I will write again soon. Thank you so much for letting me come and be a part of my forever family. I love them so much.
Love, Bailey
WOOFWOOF!!!!!!
Adopted February 2004
It's been a long trek for this little girl, Bailey (#415), but the day finally arrived earlier this month and it is official. Bailey has found her forever home!
Bailey is now living with Cindy and Jeff, along with children Aubrey, Chase and Alyssa. Of course, there had to be another dog in the picture, too, as Bailey loves all dogs. So yes, she and Kobe, their two year old black Lab, get along famously and play constantly.
The great thing about this adoption is that Cindy is a friend of Erin, who was Bailey's foster for all her surgeries and therapy as well. Because of this, Cindy and family knew Bailey right from the beginning. In fact, Cindy remembers Bailey climbing up in her lap at the first meeting and giving her a "wet Willy" in her ear as if to tell her, "I'm yours!"
Bailey now goes everywhere with Cindy and sits in the back seat knowing this is where she belongs. Needless to say, this all was meant to be and you couldn't find a more perfect match than Bailey with her new forever family. Good for you dear Bailey, these are the kinds of stories that Golden Bond loves to write and rewrite.
