Ruby #1151

Crossed the Rainbow Bridge: August 26, 2008

My Forever Home by Ruby #1551, aka "Ru"

Ruby #1551I met my forever mom at the Golden Bond Rescue picnic in August of '07. I wasn't I was ready to leave my foster home and all the other goldens there. I had been through many surgeries and physical therapy for my left hind leg and my foster mom was so kind, caring for me and taking me to P.T. three times a week for a very long time. We had a special bond. But my forever mom knew P.T. too! It was a perfect match.

It took me a few days to figure out the resident cat, but we became good buddies. The yard was wonderful and she took me everywhere she went. The first week I was there we went to the beach to meet the family. They have a small dog, Dingo, with a big bark and very expressive eyes. She can run like the wind and wanted me to go with her, but my mom kept me on leash and we walked as I was still in therapy. They have five acres and the beach stretches out forever, it's so big. It was something. Mom taught me how to "catch the waves" and swim in with them, (very small ones for beginners.) We both went home smiling, wet, sandy and salty. We made many trips down there, always something new. When my leg finally got better I too could run like the wind and splash in the water.

Ruby #1551I got to meet her friends and neighbors and walk their dogs too.

My mom's grand-daughter took Christmas pictures of us. The best one was of me in my Santa hat with a butterfly on my nose. (She digitally transposed it.) It took second place at the county fair and I gave the red ribbon to my mom.

Then I got sick again and my mom took good care of me. August 26, 2008, I crossed over the Rainbow Bridge to wait for my forever mom to come get me.
