Joey #231
Crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2007
Our wonderful golden, Joe, passed away over spring break. Joe came to us as "Joey" (#231) in February 2002 from Golden Bond. Joey was a big (85 lb), dark red golden and the name "Joey" seemed a bit dainty for such a big handsome guy so we started to call him "Joe".
Joe was a loyal and loving guy, truly a gentleman. He was such a part of our family. At times I wondered if he really knew he was a dog. He loved nothing better than to be sitting next to you with a full-body-lean against your leg. Joe and our son were best buddies. Last year we changed Andrew's bed from a twin to a double so Joe could sleep in comfort with Andrew — it was a bit tight in the twin.
We don't know much about Joe's first 5 years of life but we are very grateful to have been part of his life during the past 5 years and to have had the opportunity to give Joe the life and love he deserved. Thank you to Golden Bond for all that you do and for connecting us with this wonderful dog.
Sally, Mark, Kate, and Andrew
Adopted February, 2002
Joey (#231) has gone to his forever home with Mark, Sally, Kate, and Andrew. He immediately began to display his "practically impeccable" house manners, all the while smiling and wagging his tail. When he tentatively approached the resident cat, Bear, he hissed, so Joey decided to go do something else. Not only well mannered - but wise. Despite a hiss or two, he is certain he has chosen the best family for him and has decided to stay. Joey, we've enjoyed knowing you at Golden Bond and wish you and your
new family many years of love and fun.
Joey's Available Story
Joey #231 is a large golden, very red in color with abeautiful big head, his coat is short and curly. At age 5, Joey is a real sweetheart! His foster home says that he has been a treat to care for, he has lots of energy and perfect manners. He is very quiet in the house, dosn't play much with stuffed toys or balls but when he gets outside he loves to explore in the trees, poke around in the bushes, and run through the fields with his tail straight in the air and head held high! He would much rather walk through a puddle than around and is very enthusiastic about riding in the car. He knows basic commands and walks well on a leash. He dosn't bark unless he belives an intruder is near and is a perfect companion for other dogs and kids. He dosn't dig in the gardens or jump fences. He is very gentle and loves to get soapy and sprayed with the hose!!! Joey would be very happy in a home with another dog, since he has always had a companion, and with a big yard (or close by dog park) where he can run. Joey is truely a gem, just looking for love and affection!
