Grover #1843
Crossed the Rainbow Bridge May 5, 2011
Grover, nicked named “Grover Man”, passed away on May 5, 2011 due to cancer. He made his grand entrance into our home in April, 2009. His anxiety ridden sister, Bonnie, a Springer/Beagle mix, made no short order of letting him know who was “alpha” by barking in his face when he came into the family room for the first time. He just looked at her and wondered what she was “all out of sorts about." He walked away from her and laid down in what was to become his favorite spot. After just a couple of days of who are you and why are you here, both Bonnie and Grover settled into a routine of walks together, eating and sleeping together, chasing hammies (squirrels), and taking in the sun side by side. His general good boy, all around easy disposition, and incredible loveable nature grew on not only us but Bonnie too. The Queen of the house, Maggie the cat, had great respect for Grover, due to his size. She would occasionally sniff him when he wasn’t looking or bat at him from under the chair after he had already passed, but never to his face. It was quite funny to watch.
We never knew Grover’s background, but he came to us when he was about 8 years old. He had been on the streets when he was rescued and had a hard life. This would explain why he always went through Mom’s purse or bag if it was left on the floor and the trash cans if he could get to them, and of course eat the garden. Grover was slow to show us his heart. We’re sure he wanted to make sure this really was his forever home. He did open up to us and was a very loving dog. He always wanted to be by our side and always wanted to please us. Grover was only part of our family for 2 very short years. It’s amazing how quickly he stole of our hearts. We all miss him greatly and wish we would have had more time with him. We now find Bonnie laying in Grover’s favorite spots.
Grover was such an awesome dog and part of our family that we know we will be rescuing another Golden when the time is right.
Thank you, Golden Bond for giving us the opportunity to love Grover.
