Sammy #1167
Crossed the Rainbow Bridge June 8, 2010
I was fairly new at fostering for Golden Bond and they brought me Sammy (#1167). The first words out of my mouth were, "What if he dies?" This dog was skin and bones, he had tonsilitis and fluid in his lungs, was a very pathetic sight. Well, he didn't die. We nursed him back to health. He was approximately 5 or 6 yrs. old then. The day came when I needed to put him up on the web site for adoption. I wrote the story, sent it in, and then I couldn't go thru with it and decided to keep him. I wanted to make sure he was never abused ever again.
He got the name Corduroy Bear because he needed fixing just like the children's book about Corduroy Bear.
He was such a kind and sweet guy. He was very easy going. He loved going for walks. But, when he started getting a little weak in the hind end, he just couldn't walk far. How could I tell him he couldn't go and our other dogs could. It broke my heart, so I bought a huge garden wagon that the sides go down and up. Corduroy got to ride in his wagon and still go for walks, he loved it.
Corduroy has now gone to The Rainbow Bridge. He was about 15 years old. We had 10 wonderful years with him. He leaves a big empty hole in our home and we miss him terribly.
Thank You Golden Bond...
