Belle #1044

Crossed the Rainbow Bridge April 2010

Belle #1044My beautiful Belle (#1044) died of cancer. True to her Golden self, she didn't let me know she was in any distress.

Belle was a treasure; a true perfect dog. She was gentle and made friends everywhere she went. She loved to go to "work." "Work" for Belle was picking out a favorite scrunchy from her collection, running to the front door and wriggling to get into the car to do a home visit for Golden Bond Rescue. Belle loved being an ambassador for Golden Bond. Her gentle nature and soulful eyes won over many adopters. I can't count the times that at the end of a home visit a prospective adopter said, "... well, I was looking for a younger and sprier one, but I'll go ahead and take this one instead". I'd have to explain that this GOLDEN was taken; she was mine.

Belle didn't have a good start in life. I like to think she began living when she came to Golden Bond Rescue. Thank you Golden Bond for bringing such a precious little girl to me; Diana, you know right from the start. Thank you to Murrayhill Veterinary Hospital for Belle's excellent veterinary care which added many years of quality life to Belle's tenure. Thank you to Rock Creek Veterinary Hospital for easing Belle into death with such dignity.

Belle was an amazing dog and I will miss her greatly.

Update April 7, 2005

Belle #1044A perfect dog to me is one who fits. They not only fit the family that adopts them, they get the opportunity to live to the full potential they were given at birth.

Belle #1044 is a perfect fit for me. While she has wore away her front teeth due to constantly biting at an itch, she has bald spots where her fur is missing, there are always at least three hot spots on her, and she has severe food allergies; she is a perfect fit. She loves me unconditionally and brings me much joy in her gentle ways. When I see Belle, I see perfection. She has beautiful eyes and lashes, her fur is a beautiful red, and when she wags her tail and looks up at me adoringly, I wonder at God's infinite wisdom at bringing such a wonderful and perfect dog into my life. I know she's not pretty, but she is mine and she's perfect in every way. I thank God that I have her and that she has blessed my life so richly.

Belle #1044We wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to Golden Bond Rescue for bringing Belle, a.k.a. Bell (#1044), into our home. I became acquainted with Golden Bond last fall when my rough collie, Tucker, was diagnosed with cancer. When Tucker died this summer, I knew that it was time to get in touch with Golden Bond so we could find the perfect dog to join our family.

Belle is that dog. She is sweet, loving, and eager to please. When she is happy, her tail wags so hard that her whole body wags with it. Belle is great dog. She likes every one and everything. She enjoys long walks and likes to play. When Belle is engaged in play, she does so in a very gentle and ladylike manner. Its fun to watch her show Mikey, our adolescent rough collie, who's the boss at a game of chase, toss, or bring the "baby" (one of Tucker's special toys).

Thank you once again for bringing such a lovely and wonderful companion into our home. Belle is very much loved and needed.
