Crossed the Rainbow Bridge September 28, 2009

We are deeply saddened to inform you that our Golden Bond Rescue dog, Crystal (#128), crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Monday afternoon, September 28th. Our very kind and considerate Vet, Dr. Jay Fineman of Newport, made the crossing easy for Crystal.

Crystal had enjoyed her usual AM routine with breakfast and fetch with Jesse and Harley, her other dog pack members, followed by an AM nap. When she did not respond to a call for lunch, it became obvious something dire was wrong. She appeared to be shutting down. I carried her to the car for a trip to Jay's. Diagnosis was a very enlarged and fluid-filled pericardium hindering blood supply and breathing. Although further, much more invasive testing beyond the x-ray's and blood test could have been done, it no doubt would have just confirmed the inevitable, our Crystal was shutting down and asking for our help. Her last moments were calm and pain-free as she began her final journey.

I think Crystal could best be described as a joyful presence that added extra dimension to all the lives she touched. Crystal had a great sense of humor and lived her life with absolutely no guilt. Crystal assumed (correctly) that what ever she did was the right thing to do; whether it was chewing on mom's favorite plant, waking you in the early AM because she was awake and you should be too, or bringing you her favorite toy of the moment. Crystal's mission was to share her joy of life with the world. Her mission accomplished, she has traveled on. We miss her.

I think that before long we will be looking to Golden Bond Rescue to once again help bring gold into our lives.
