Mandy #1946
Crossed the Rainbow Bridge July 28, 2011
Goldens are a joy for everyone, I know, but my prejudice for Mandy (#1946) is acute. Her darling, tail-thumping temperament was one that welcomed all visitors like they were family. Mandy loved watching kitties...but when she'd encounter one, she'd giveit a head start before she started her 'token chase'! We all knew she would never harm one.
She loved her (many!) beds, her (many!) toys, her meals, and her people. She loved her little brother Hansi so much. She loved her groomers, Sherry and Chuck. All summer long, she has loved lying on the back porch in the early morning and late evening, just listening to the soft sounds of the transitioning world, not wanting to come indoors until she'd had her fill. Hers was the most welcoming, smiling face to come home to. Her red-gold curls were utterly beautiful. I will miss my girl so much...but I feel beyond grateful to Golden Bond for bringing her into my life. Thank you so much for this sweet, sweet soul.

Oh I love my Mandy Girl! Mandy (#1946) came to me after a loving couple of weeks in a GB foster home, where much attention was given to improving her skin (flea allergies and maybe nerves, as well.) Her general overall conditioning had been compromised by her living situation but was steadily improving under the care of her foster mom Linda.
Mandy's age was a little hard to pin down; she is either 10 or 12. ..she was the product of a divorce after living her whole life with one family. Mandy has the sweetest disposition. She's a sensitive oldster and very house-friendly, only ever touching dog toys, never shoes, etc...
From day-one, she has not had one single accident indoors, even though her first hours here were scary and uncertain for her. She loves soft places (loves sleeping on the daybed with the down comforter!) but loves her outdoor romps too! We continued the 'skin repair' process as per my vet's prescription. After 3 medicated baths and some grooming, which she loved, Mandy is looking and feeling just great! Her beautiful reddish coat is growing back, her energy level is way up, and her confidence is now such that she readily tells me when she wants to play, go outdoors, or go upstairs to bed at night! She loves running and chasing balls and toys, loves car rides, and is a doll with visitors. (She was meek at first....now she is quite in command of herself!!).
I adore Mandy, I adore GBR for once again endowing my life with such a wonderful creature. Right now we are 'babysitting' a friend's two little dogs for a couple of weeks, and Mandy is patient and calm about it so far....bless her heart! She does still seem to get emotionally overwhelmed with too much excitement, but these two little visitors are older themselves; they are pretty mellow and sleep a lot. I am secretly testing Mandy right now, too---I want to see how she does with companions (and then see how she is after they leave, as well.) If she seems happy with them, we will start thinking about finding her a buddy after the new year! It'll have to be someone who is 'worthy' of this sweet creature, of course---Mandy is my adorable 'main girl' now! Thank you so much for giving me this wonderful animal friend.
