Tucker

On February 4th, a Monday, our person taking Intake Calls for Golden Bond, received a call that would lead to the most amazing union!

Darla called us because she had just had a job change. Now, rather than being home and working just in Oregon, she was going to travel 60 % of her time and her dear nine year old dog, Tucker, would be alone just too much. She had tried having a friend on a farm take Tucker while she was gone, but that wasn't the answer. She was just going to have to give him up, but this was going to be very difficult. Darla told us about her awesome dog, his perfect health, love of cats and "He even has long range tanks that are great on a houseboat!" He is the perfect houseboat dog, just stays on his space and never roams the walkways to bother other people.

Houseboat! Wow, this certainly rang some bells when I heard about the call. Just a few days before there had been an inquiry from a woman who lived on a houseboat who was inquiring for her friend whether we would relax our fencing requirement. Her friend, Patty, who lived next door, had just lost her husband and wanted so badly to have a dog, a Golden Retriever. Was this amazing or what!

Needless to say I drove to the Hayden Island houseboat area and met Darla and Tucker. Great owner and dog! I told Darla about the inquiry we had from a person on a houseboat on Sauvie Island. It was almost too good to be true. We discussed several possibilities; perhaps Patty could dog sit Tucker when Darla was out of town and then if that worked out well, perhaps an adoption would be best. I called Patty and a meeting was set up between Patty, Darla and Tucker and me. The meeting went very well and Patty decided to dog sit that very weekend and possibly adopt him.

When the dog sitting time ended, it was decided that Tucker should have a permanent home with Patty and that is how this wonderful story ends. Patty and her husband had a Golden who had died and they had very much wanted another Golden. We are just sure that somewhere up there Patty's husband had it all worked out. A match made in Heaven is exactly what it was, and we at Golden Bond are so happy to have been involved.
