We wanted to take a moment to thank you for placing Winslowe with us. He's a real sweetie-pie. He seems to be settling in without any issues. It's like he has been with us forever. And that's saying a lot for a family that hasn't had a dog in almost eleven years!
Winslowe is wonderful. We have all remarked how lucky we are to have such a great dog. He's extremely well mannered and an absolute sponge when it comes to affection. He has been basking in the glory of having two boys totally love him (not to mention the two grown-ups in the house!). We just adore him. Winslowe really enjoys his walks and it's a real hoot to see him play fetch with his ball. He doesn't like to relinquish the ball. He just wags his tail and keep the ball just out of reach, as if to say, "Come and get it!" We think he's starting to understand that if he gives it back, we'll keep throwing it for him. He also likes to make his presence known in the neighborhood with a cursory bark. He appeared to want to go outside. Upon being let out, he just looked around, sniffed and let out one good "Woof!" then wanted to come back in. We're assuming it just meant "I'm HOME!" J Daniel (age 10) said yesterday, after a full day with Winslowe, "This is the best day of my life!" Matthew (age 7) is trying to get Winslowe interested in airplanes by reading to him. It may take a little time for Winslowe, but Matthew says he's starting to like it. Winslowe has also found his favorite spots to hang out. It doesn't come as any surprise that the spots he chose are in the center of activity in the house, where he can be a part of everything that goes on.
If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you please convey to his foster family that he's settling in nicely and seems to be happy with his new home. He did great on the car ride from Albany to Hillsboro. We are certainly thrilled that he's part of our family now. Thank you again for helping our dreams come true with the addition of Winslowe to our family.
Sincerely,
The Johnston Family
Joe, Christine, Daniel (age 10), Matthew (age 7) and Winslowe J
